What is Resin Bound made of?
Our resin bound aggregate surfacing uses 100% Natural Granite, crushed into small, pea-gravel sized stones. The aggregate is mixed on-site with a unique Resin (binder) that is non-toxic, strong, flexible and specifically crafted for binding aggregate. That’s why it comes with a warranty against loose stones.
Does Resin bound aggregate look similar to exposed aggregate?
Yes indeed! Resin bound aggregate surfaces have the appearance of loose, natural aggregates with the structure of finished pavements. If you were to see one of our samples, people describe it looking like a big Rice Crispy square. Just not nearly as soft, nor as tasty. 😉
Is Resin Bound aggregate a new product?
Not at all. The concept of resin bound aggregate was developed in UK and Germany. Over 30+ years later, the popularity of resin bound aggregate pavement has grown due to its unique features and benefits plus it’s stunning curb appeal.
Has Resin Bound Aggregate been proven?
Absolutely! Resin Bound Aggregate has been used in Germany and the UK for 30+ years, with over 100 Million Square Feet installed.
Can I install it myself?
Well, we really admire all of you awesome DIYers out there! On a large scale project, Resin Bound Aggregate is not a DIY (Do-it-Yourself) product. It requires industry grade equipment and proper training.
For your smaller projects that you wish to tackle on your own, please contact us.
Is Resin Bound Aggregate eco-friendly?
Absolutely. Resin Bound Aggregate is considered L.I.D. – Low Impact Development. It has the lowest carbon footprint of any pavement to produce. We mix it on-site, thus avoiding any carbon-heavy production.
Is it for Residential or Commercial?
Good news is the Resin Bound Aggregate we install is strong enough to be used for both residential and commercial applications!
Where can Resin Bound Aggregate be installed?
Resin Bound aggregate is suitable for all of your residential projects needs including driveways, walkways, pool surrounds and patios too!
We’ve installed Resin Bound Aggregate for commercial applications such as traffic islands, cart paths, courtyards, tree pits, pathways, trails, and many other applications.
What is the expected lifespan?
Based on independent, scientific testing Resin Bound Aggregate has been rated at 25+ years!
Does Pure Pave have a warranty?
Yes! Your Dream Pave Warranty ensures that you need not worry about cracking or weeds for 5 years. Some conditions may apply.
Does it crack like concrete and asphalt does?
The Resin bound aggregate system we install uses a binder that is non-toxic, incredibly strong, and flexible. Developed specifically for binding aggregate. This means it will bend when under at tremendous amount of pressure, but doesn’t crack. You can thank our Resin Partner for that!
How is Resin Bound Aggregate in the winter?
Great question! We never thought you’d ask! Of all its unique benefits, the winter performance is where Resin Bound Aggregate shines; The surface resists ice build-up, so you will use less ice melter or salt, if any, to keep your driveway safe. Snow melts faster on Resin Bound Aggregate, and once it melts…it percolates thru the permeable surface. Genius!
How strong is Resin Bound Aggregate compared to concrete and asphalt?
Great question. Resin Bound Aggregate pavements are substantially stronger than asphalt, and concrete. Plus the entire system is fundamentally different than a conventional pavement installation process.
Can I apply salt in the winter?
Yes of course! Resin Bound Aggregate is salt and chlorine resistant. Best is, you can expect to use up to 80% less salt or ice melter! Your plants, grass and the environment are all going to loooove you!
Can I shovel or use my snow blower?
Yes! Resin Bound Aggregate scientific testing included friction test, which passed with flying colours. The BIGGEST MYTH is a chunk of the resin bound pavement will come lose if you shove. That is NOT true. Some customers even run a snow plough on it as well.
Will I get weeds? I hate weeds in my interlock, and thru surface cracks?
Nope! Say bye-bye to your beloved weeds! 🙂 Installing a Resin Bound Aggregate system by Dream Pave ensures you do not need to worry about weed growth.
Does Resin Bound Aggregate require maintenance?
Another HUGE benefit, is very little maintenance is required! Resin Bound Aggregate is highly porous surface; Every square inch is permeable. The only maintenance required is a light power-wash (or hose down) every couple years. Also depending on the level of wear and tear, you can apply a ‘top coat’ of resin after a few years, which is very inexpensive.
Is Resin Bound Aggregate pet friendly?
Yes, Resin Bound Aggregate pavements are pet friendly. Resin Bound Aggregate surfaces are finished with a power trowel that flattens the individual stones. It’s very pleasant for humans to walk on it bare-foot and bounce a ball. So your furry friends will find it equally fine to walk on.
Is Resin Bound Aggregate toxic?
Not at all. Unlike asphalt, the resin (or binder) we use are Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and have no leeching; Also, with its permeable base, acts as a natural stormwater filtering system!
Do I have to wait months to install like asphalt?
Not at all. At Dream Pave, we start the project, and work right through to completion. Again, its a fundamentally differnet system than conventional asphalt paving.
Is Resin Bound Aggregate slippery?
Not at all! Resin Bound Aggregate pavements are slip-resistant.
When combined with some trade secrets, our Resin Bound Aggregate pavement offer great traction! Plus due to the Geo-thermal effect, and because a permeable surface ‘breathes’, moisture evaporates quick than other surfaces.
Does Resin Bound Aggregate get hot in summer like interlock stones?
As previously mentioned, the Geo-Thermal effect means your Resin Bound Aggregate surface will be noticeably cooler than asphalt, concrete and interlock surfaces. Our clients experience a comfortably ‘cooler’ surface to walk on during hot summer days versus interlock pavers.
Is Resin Bound Aggregate soft to the touch?
You will experience a very unique, textured, yet smooth surface when you install Resin Bound Aggregate for your driveway, walkway, patio or pool area. In most cases, we can send you local installations so you can experience Dream Pave’s craftmanship first hand.
How is Resin Bound Aggregate installed?
Resin Bound Aggregate pavement is a pour-in-place process, and is a LID (low impact development) product. How? Well our Resin Bound Aggregate pavement is actually mixed on-site, without the use of any carbon heavy manufacturing plants and mixing equipment.
How does Resin Bound Aggregate handle the frost?
Permeable Resin Bound Aggregate pavements are designed to be the most flexible surface, allowing it to withstand freeze-thaw cycles without cracking and able to endure any heaving that may take place. Conventional pavements like asphalt and concrete, use binders (Bitumen and cement respectively) which lose their flexibility after just 3-5 years.
How does Resin Bound Aggregate reduce water pollution?
Resin Bound Aggregate permeable surfaces are considered a Zero Water Run-off surface. The Resin Bound Aggregate, being permeable, prevents storm water from running off the surface, then into the sewers and into our rivers, streams and our water supply.
Help us, help you, save the environment, and install our permeable Resin Bound Aggregate pavement today!
So, is Resin Bound Aggregate the ideal Stormwater Management solution?
Correct! Resin Bound Aggregate surfaces are being used to mitigate flooding, and circumvent the need for traditional stormwater infrastructure. Reducing the run-off from impermeable pavements, will save billions of dollars in stormwater infrastructure repairs.
At Dream Pave, we are a team of Mothers and Fathers, who wish to leave the Earth in a better place for our children, and future generations.
That’s why we are proud to be the GTA’s first, and leading experts and installers of permeable Resin Bound Aggregate systems.
